Requirements

Face shield
Competitors under the age of 17 are required to wear a face shield.
Competitors that are 17 or over may choose to not wear a face shield, but must wear a mouth guard.

Competitors must a member of a C.T.F. affiliated school or be invited by the tournament coordinator.
Face contact allowed
Face contact will be allowed at all ranks and ages. Competitors under the ages of 17 are required to have a face shield.

Point Sparring
Modified C.T.F. Sparring Rules
In a two minute round, competitors must score more points than their opponent in order to win. A break will be called to award points to a competitor.

Continuous Sparring
Modified C.T.F. Sparring Rules
Competitors will spar continuously for two minutes. After the two minutes, the judges will declare a winner based on a criteria.
Judging Criteria
- Effective techniques.
- Which competitor landed the most legal techniques without being blocked or evaded?
- Evading is when a competitor moves their body, causing their opponent to miss. If a competitor does not move, but their opponent still misses, they are not evading.
- A technique is blocked when a competitor moves their limbs to absorb a hit instead of the hit landing on a valid target area.
- Which competitor landed the most legal techniques without being blocked or evaded?
- Ring control
- Which competitor stayed upright? Who was not downed?
- If a competitor touches the ground with any part of their body, except their feet or 1 hand, they are considered down.
- Which competitor backed the other into a ring corner or out of the ring?
- Which competitor controlled the pace of the match?
- Which competitor stayed upright? Who was not downed?
- Effective aggression
- Which competitor moved forward more, striked their opponent without being countered, and caused their opponent to move?
- Defense
- Which competitor blocked or evaded the most techniques?

- Which competitor performed more difficult techniques that hit a valid target area? Attempted techniques are not counted.

Fouls
Fouls are given by the center official. When a competitor commits a foul, the center official will stop the match (time still continues), announce the foul, give the offending competitor one (1) strike, and resumes the match.
When a competitor receives three (3) strikes, then they are disqualified from the match. Competitors under the rank of black belt will receive one (1) warning before receiving strikes.

What equipment is required?
Headgear, gloves, and sparring boots that cover the heel.
Face shield required for competitors under 17.

What uniforms are required?
Competitors and judges must wear the traditional martial art uniform from their school.
Masters may wear suits.
Can spectators pay at the door?
Yes. Spectators over the age of 5 will be charged $5.

No. Competitors must register online before February 5th to enter the tournament.
